Dog shampoo and conditioner from natural dog shampoo to dog bath wipes

Dog shampoo and conditioner from natural dog shampoo to dog bath wipes

Most dogs will not need to be bathed too often because the shampoo can dry out the dogs skin and deplete natural oils from the coat. Some breeds will only need bathing three times a year. While others who spend a lot of time outdoors and exposed to dirt and debris will typically need to be bathed more frequently, at the most every 6 weeks. You should consult your veterinarian or a groomer to determine how often your dog needs to be bathed as it is largely dependent upon the breed of your dog. In between baths you can use bath wipes to keep your dog looking and smelling fresh.

Dog shampoos and conditioners are specially formulated to be used on the dogs. They have a different pH than human shampoo and are gentle enough that they don't strip the natural oils from a dogs skin or coat. You should always check shampoos and conditioners before you buy them to make sure that they are meant to be used on your dog. Some are specially formulated for puppies and dogs of different ages, dogs with different types of coats, and dogs with different colors of coats.

There are also shampoos that help with different skin conditions or irritations. There are shampoos formulated for dry, irritated or itchy skin, to prevent and kill fleas, and to eliminate bacteria and fungi.

Natural Dog Shampoo

There are many natural dog shampoos on the market as well. They are typically gentler on your dog's skin and coat and have a pleasant natural scent. All natural ingredients such as oatmeal help to alleviate skin irritation and itching. Citrus oils help to fight fleas and olive oil and castor oils moisturize your dogs skin and coat. Unless your dog has a specific problem it is best to use a natural dog shampoo that is meant for general use. Natural dog shampoos are also guaranteed to be chemical and detergent free, which means that they are safer for your dog.

Bath Wipes

Bath wipes are great for in between baths. Some a gentle enough for everyday use, however a good brush is usually better and more appreciated. Bath wipes can be used to clean away dirt and odors, so they leave your dog smelling fresh and his/her coat looking clean and shinny. You can also use bath wipes to quickly clean your dog's paws before coming in the house or after a walk. They are not a substitute for a bath, but bath wipes will give your dog a clean and fresh feel while eliminating doggie odors.
